The greatest honor we can be given is the referral of a new client from an exisiting customer or business connection. This project came about in just that manner, as a referral from our dear friend and partner through Accelerant Indy, Robert Bonjour at Offset House.

After working with Robert, Deflecto had expressed their need for a new photographer, as they had poor experiences with the prior companies they had worked with. They needed to work with someone who not only understood the vision for their unique product, but also had excellent response time, quick delivery and great customer service. Luckily, we were prepared to check all the boxes and exceed their expectations. Although they have an in-house photographer, the demand was growing beyond what the on site team could manage in the time expected, which makes sense when you work with over 5,000 different products! We love collaborating with other creatives, so this couldn’t have been a more perfect pairing for us!

Headquartered here in Indianapolis, Deflecto is a consumer product company that creates office, personal protection, safety, storage and air distribition products that keeps ease of use and efficiency top of mind when manufacturing their items. We kicked off our partnership with the biggest challenge being the product itself! The team presented us with their new office mat desgined to be verstile enough for carpet, hardwood or any other flooring and made with their propietary technology that has no protrusions and is also non-slip. How cool, right?

Photographing a product that is completely clear is challenging in many ways. The product is extremely high quality and unique and we wanted to hightlight these features in the photos, while also maintaining the true tranparency of the item. This was tricky! When working with see-through items, you have to be careful not to catch shadows that will the product gray and lighting is so important. The product also has a beautiful luster to it, which was important to both the client and to us to capture. It’s a part of the distinctive design. Product photopgrahpy is all about snapping the photos in real life circumstances, using the products in the way they are intended to be used. As this particular Deflecto article is typically used under desks, there was no shortage of laughs when it came to the creative ways we had to move around to get the best shot. Anything for our clients!

The final piece to finish this project up was, of course, editing. Merging the multiple different exposures in photoshop makes for a star image! We did many angles of under desk, not under desk and different exposure so the client had everything they needed for all distribution and packaging needs. This first project was on location and we’ve since completed an in-studio day, as well.

We look forward to continuing work with Deflecto and capturing their stellar pieces!
