As the holiday season rolls in (and colder weather along with it), most people feel the urge to hibernate in their homes. While this is still a tempting offer, we here at Studio13 have been out on the town shooting architectural photography, headshots, and group photos. This Journal is about a project where we did all three of those in one day!
This week, we bring you the story of our work with a long-time client, Eye Specialists of Indiana (ESI). ESI is the state’s first and longest standing cataract referral center. The company was founded in 1987 by Drs. Jim Hunter and Paul Walton and has grown to include a coordinated clinic and surgery center specializing in the treatment of cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and overall eye wellness. Their team of doctors have over 100 years of experience between them!
We’ve worked with ESI for about the past 8 years, so we have seen how their business has focused and grown. About once a year, ESI calls on the Studio13 team to update their all-staff photo. Since the staff has grown to about substantially (close to 100 people!) this process requires Lesle to gather everyone in the parking lot and take the photograph at the top of a cherry picker. Since she’s not afraid of heights, this proves to be quite a fun undertaking!
In addition to a revitalized staff photograph, ESI wanted us to capture headshots for the newly hired team members and update photography for their brochures. Their old images showed their offices and staff members before recent hiring changes and brand-new facilities renovation. They also wanted to update their staff and patient interaction photography. Since it’s their people that make the difference why not show them off?
While capturing interior architectural shots, our main focus was the gorgeous updated décor. Although it might sound boring to photograph doctors’ offices, the design elements and textures found in this modern update made the space interesting and appealing to the eye (no pun intended).
Later in the day, we focused on the ESI staff, using photography to highlight their experience in the field. This team is full of leaders in the healthcare industry, so framing and lighting the pictures to exude professionalism—yet reflect a modern vibe—was of the highest priority.
This day required many different skills from our team—which is how we like it. We are always grateful to work with such a loyal client.
