Working with products in any capacity can take various shapes and forms, but photographing that product in its intended environment always adds a level of excitement and interest. That’s exactly what we recently did for Kimball International at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center in Jasper, Indiana. Kimball International is an organization dedicated to creating design-driven furnishings that help their customers shape spaces into workplaces, providing furnishing and manufacturing that promotes collaboration. They dedicate their success to growing long-term relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, shareholders, and the communities in which they work. The Thyen-Clark Cultural Center is an immense space housing artwork and libraries, intended to handle large groups and host various events.
A space like the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center requires proper furnishings, and Kimball was up to the task. For this project, Kimball wanted to highlight their two different furniture brands: Kimball, and National. However, they wanted to highlight that Kimball is actually a family of brands, meaning our goal was to emphasize the cohesive nature of their individual brands as well as giving each piece space to breathe. In order to accomplish this, we at Studio 13 photographed specific pieces of furniture to highlight each piece’s individuality, as well as staging and capturing furniture groupings to show how the pieces could work together in a given space. Working with large products in such a significant quantity has unique challenges for lighting and composition, but we couldn’t be happier with the end results.
We are looking forward to working with this fabulous client again soon!
